Lighting  Position also known as Gaffer  120 Students can rent lights and gels from F&M Department Gels/Filters help manipulate light brightness and effect  Lights can also be rented from film/camera shops

Lighting Tips  Gloves!!! Lights get hot very quickly. You can buy relatively cheap gloves from Home Depot.  Bulbs are very fragile! Don’t touch bulbs with bare hands (oils on your hand can damage a bulb)  Utilize natural light or reflectors to manipulate light. (Cost effective and easier than handling ligth equipment.

Sound  Position also know as Boom Operator  Equipment can be rented from F & M Department for 120 students or from film shops.  Equipment includes boom pole (microphone), headphones, and recording device.

Sound Tips  Bring Spare Batteries for Recorder!  Look out for unwanted background noises and peaks in sound. If something seemed wrong with the sound in a shot, let the crew (director) know after the take!  Be careful of wind and electronic equipment. Refrigerators tend to make a humming noise that is noticeable in editing!  Remember to get room tone!
