© 2007 Arizona State University Strategies for Success Students who have goals and a sense of direction in college are more likely to stay in school and graduate. Students who are committed to a well-explored career plan are more likely to succeed in their careers.

© 2007 Arizona State University Major & Career Exploration Wouldn't it be great to love going to work most days? What if you could turn a passion into a career goal and find a major that would lead to it? How motivated would you be if your university education could take you to places you have dreamed about?

© 2007 Arizona State University Career Development at ASU You have the opportunity to make informed choices based on self-understanding, research, and reality testing. Matching interests to choice of major and career promotes satisfaction and success in career.

© 2007 Arizona State University Power of Passion Between 1960 and 1980, 1,500 business school graduates were surveyed. Category A graduates made money first, then did what they really wanted to do later (1,245 graduates or 83% of the population). Category B graduates pursued their true interests, sure that money would eventually follow (255 graduates or 17% of the population. Twenty years later, there were 101 millionaires in that group of 1,500 business students. Category A graduates had 1 millionaire. Category B graduates had 100 millionaires. Albion, M. (2000). Making a life, making a living. New York: Warner Books.

© 2007 Arizona State University Major does not always equal Career Major: focus on one or more areas of study College Education: develop intellectual capacities, critical reading, thinking and writing skills, and learn sophisticated information competencies Career Development is a Lifelong Process

© 2007 Arizona State University Why take the Kuder Career Assessment? Interest Inventories are the most frequently used career tools today. Research supports match of interests and choice of major or career to promote career satisfaction and success. Helps in developing possibilities, does not overrule what you have been considering. Customized for ASU, interests connect to ASU Majors on the results pages (Step III).
