EQ vs. IQ Jackie Chavez / 5th Period

EQ : Emotional Intelligence : is the ability to recognize one’s own and other people’s emotions.

IQ : The whole of cognitive or intellectual abilities required to obtain knowledge and to use that knowledge in a good way to solve problems that have a well described goal and structure.

Article : EQ : identifies leaders, team players, individuals who usually work alone. IQ : identifies highly capable or gifted individuals with mental challenges. For a long time, IQ was believed to be the ultimate measure for success in careers and life in general IQ accounted for more than 14% of job performance; emotional intelligence for less than 1%. IQ tests are used most in the field of education and psychology. 1985, Wayne Payne's doctoral thesis "A Study of Emotion: Developing Emotional Intelligence" 1883, English statistician Francis Galton's paper "Inquiries into Human Faculty and Its Development" EQ is partially determined by how a person relates to others and maintains emotional control. IQ can think in abstracts and make connections by making generalizations easier. For EQ testing, proponents cite that EQ helps predict work success and teamwork ability.
