Analogy A comparison of two things.

Character The person or animal around which the action in the story occurs.

Climax The high point or turning point in a story.

Conflict The problem or complication in a story.

Denotative Meaning The dictionary meaning of a word.

Fact A statement that is true or can be proven. =

Metaphor A figurative comparison that doesn’t use “like” or “as”.

Mood How the writing makes the reader feel (happy, sad, upset)

Multiple Meaning Words A word that has more than one meaning.

Opinion A statement that requires a value judgment; it is what someone thinks or believes. =

Setting The time and place in which the action of a story occurs.
