How are state governments like the federal government in the United States? State governments are like the federal government in the United States. They both have three branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. Also, both governments collect taxes, enforce laws, and provide services for citizens.

Why might some food processing industries be located near farming areas? Food processing industries use the crops and livestock grown and raised on farms to make their products.

What kinds of cultural traditions have developed in the Inland South States? Cultural traditions come from the settlers and early Native Americans.

Why is strip mined land reclaimed? Strip mining removes trees, topsoil, and plants in order to mine coal. The land is reclaimed to return the land to its original natural state by putting back trees, soil, and plants. It is the law.

Essay Answer:

An essay must have a minimum of 2 sentences. The first sentence is a topic sentence (a topic sentence does not begin with it, because, or and). The second sentence and any additional sentences should give more details to help and support the topic sentence. Write out a draft answer first, using your book to get facts. Have someone sit down and review your answer. Then write your final copy.

How do governments try to protect the Southeast’s natural resources? They set up national and state parks and wildlife refuges. They pass laws that require mining companies to reclaim strip- mined land.
