Touch Screen, Head Mouse and Eye Gaze

Alternatives to the mouse & keyboard One alternative to the keyboard and mouse is a touch screen monitor Particularly useful for adults or children with learning difficulties who find correlation of moving hand on a mouse to what is on screen problematic mainstream option

Making the touch screen easier to use Stylus – many variations Touch screen gloves Keyguards (physical or virtual) Spacing out content Look at accessibility settings Placing screens at an angle to prevent hand drag on screen

Alternatives to the mouse Another alternative a Head mouse or tracker. Examples of this is the Natural Point and Origin Head Mouse, which work on an infra red system – tracking a small reflective ‘dot’ on the user. Camera Mouse based on a standard Webcam with special software. Also “facemouse” – free download from gory/free-face-mouse.php gory/free-face-mouse.php

Eyegaze Use of infrared transmitters, to locate eyes, and a camera to focus on eye movement. Lots of recent developments in this area, both commercially and in disability sector. Need to calibrate Can use dwell or blink or external switch to select Need software to interact with onscreen i.e. onscreen keyboard, The Grid 2, proprietary software Various different products allow for a variety of users See for more informationhttp://
