Definition Process of attracting individuals on a timely basis, in sufficient numbers, and with appropriate qualifications to apply for jobs with an organization. Aim – To attract the best applicant and exclude any that are not suitable

Employee requisition Document that specifies job title, department, the date the employee is needed for work, and other details. Recruitment sources Where qualified candidates are located Recruitment methods Specific means used to attract potential employees to the firm

METHODS OF RECRUITMENT Recruitment methods are the means by which and organization attempts to establishes contract with potential candidates, provides them necessary information and encourages them to apply for jobs.

1.Direct methods Under this methods scouting, manned exhibits and waiting list are used. Scouting – Where an company representatives may be sent to educational and training isntitution. Manned exhibits – where an company representatives sent to seminar and conventions where they can established their mobile officers to go to desired centres. Waiting list of candidates who have indicated their interest in jobs in person through mail over phone.

2. Indirect methods Advertisement in newspaper and journals, radio television used to publicize vacancies. This helps to enable the candidates to assess their suitability so that only those possesing the requisite qualifications will apply.

3. Third party methods Various agencies, public employment exchanges and private consulting firm are used to recruit personnel. In addition friends and relations of existing staff deputation can be used.

Online recruiting Methods 1.Internet recruiter - person whose primary rsponsibility is to use the internet in the recruitment process (also called cyber recruiter) 2.Virtual job fair – online recruiting method engaged in by a single employer or group of employers to attract a large number of applicants 3..jobs – Network of employment web sites where any company can list job opening for free. CONCLUSION To fill a vacancy created in an organization it should be filled by a right person at right time. If recruitment and selection goes right the goal is achieved. It is important to choose people who will mix in well and compliment the skills of the existing team.
