Rocks

Parts of presentation: 1. What is rock 2. Classes of rocks 3. The Rock cycle

1. What is rock Rock is combination of minerals that makes up the Earth's crust. Mineral is natural, solid, inorganic material made up of elements.

2. Classes of rocks 2.1 igneous rocks 2.2 sedimentary rocks 2.3 metamorphic rock

2.1 Igneous rocks formed from hot melted magma intrusive rocks - granite extrusive rocks - basalt

2.2 Sedimentary rocks particles of other rocks - sandstone remains of organisms – limestone dissolved minerals – rock salt

2.3 Metamorphic rocks changed from one kind of rock to another kind from igneous rocks – gneiss from sedimentary rocks – marble

3. The Rock cycle All kind of rocks – igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic, are part of a huge recycling process – ROCK CYCLE. Any class of rock can be changed into any other class of rock.
