Landforms

Continent A continent is a large body of land with water around it. We live on the continent of North America.

Ocean An ocean is a large body of salt water. The ocean that is closes to Tennessee is The Atlantic Ocean.

Mountain A mountain is land made of rock with steep sides that rise up into the air. The closest mountain range to Tennessee is The Great Smoky Mountains.

River A river is a large body of freshwater that runs through land into another body of water. The river that is closest to Memphis is The Mississippi River.

Lake A lake is a large body of fresh water that is surrounded by land. The lake that is in Tennessee is Reelfoot Lake.
