Creating a PowerPoint Presentation
Presentation transcript:

This is the Title slide. To insert a new slide, go to the Insert menu and select New Slide You can select from the slide layout for each new slide used in the presentation. This is the first slide when you open PowerPoint

Select a Slide Design from the Format menu

Select a Design Template

Click on the design you want. That design will appear on each slide you use.

Write the name of the presentation in the Title box. In the Subtitle box write your name and other information

Insert a new slide according to the information you want to display.

This slide has bulleted list and a graphic

Double click to add a graphic from the list that comes with program. Double click on the graphic to insert into the slide

Here is your slide with text and graphics.

With PowerPoint, you can make changes to all types of elements- Text size, font, and color The slide background The bullets You can make your presentation more personalized according to the audience.

To make changes, go to the Format menu. The menu gives you several options. Change the Slide Design

Click on Color Schemes You can now apply another color scheme to the presentation

Select the color scheme you like. You can apply to all the slides or to one slide. Be careful with this so that if you choose just one selected slide there is so much of a contrast the viewer misses the message on the slide and the presentation.

Go to the Format menu, select Background. You can manipulate the background and other elements. You can select the option of more colors and fill effect for the slide

This is a “color wheel” that can be used to select other colors. By clicking inside, you are shown the color that will be used. You can move the cursor around the wheel by using the mouse, left click and hold, then move to a color.

For the fill effect, you have different options. This can help you create a very effective presentation. Again be careful not to overpower the audience with the effects.

The gradient tool lets you select two colors to work with. The colors that you are given are within the color scheme you selected. That is so the colors will match and blend.

The background is now a little more dramatic.

You can add action to the presentation. Slide transitions and animation are two. Animation should be used sparingly. If you animate the information, the audience will be entertained not informed.

Slide transition is how the presentation moves, slide-to-slide. You can set the speed of the transition. Slow, medium and fast. You have the option of sound. Like animation, use sparingly. You can set how the transition takes place, by mouse click or timed. This is done by seconds

You can apply slide transitions to one or all the slides

On the Slides tab in normal view, select the slides you want to add a transition to.

On the Slide Show menu, click Slide Transition. In the list, click the transition effect you want.

Animation for the slide is how the text appears on the slide.

If you only want to apply the animation scheme to a few slides, click the Slides tab, and select the slides you want.

On the Slide Show menu, click Animation Schemes.

In the Slide Design task pane, under Apply to selected slides, click an animation scheme in the list.

If you want to apply the scheme to all slides, click the Apply to All Slides button.
