INSTRUCTIONS Go to Computer Icon on desktop Click PUBLIC drive Double-Click Homework Folder Double-Click MS folder Find JWARNER folder, double-click Select Lesson 1 Vocab – Word Open word2010studyguide Change design theme to something of your choosing – (Design Tab) Click on Slide 1, change layout to title only Save PowerPoint in your new COMP AP folder: Unit1 Vocab

TITLE BAR Displays the name of the document and program at the top of the page

QUICK ACCESS TOOLBAR Contains buttons for saving a document, undoing and redoing.

RIBBON Contains the Word Tabs (Home, Insert…) Each Tab contains buttons for commands Used for Editing and Formatting

STATUS BAR Displays page number of the current page the total number of pages and word count

TABS Part of the ribbon Includes content areas such as Home, Insert, Page Layout, Reference, and View

MINIMIZE BUTTON At the top right of your screen and looks like a dash Allows you to place the document on the bottom of your screen You may work with another program or document

MAXIMIZE BUTTON On the top right corner of your screen looks like a square Allows you to expand your document

CLOSE BUTTON The white X in a red box at the top right corner of your screen Closes the Word program

SCROLL BARS Allow you to move vertically and horizontally within your document

VIEW BUTTONS Buttons on the bottom right of your document which allow you to look at the screen in different ways Ex. Print Layout View, Normal View, Web Layout View GO BUCS

USING A POWERPOINT AS A REVIEW GAME Save your Powerpoint first Go to the View tab Choose Slide Master Select the 1 st slide on the left slide by scrolling up Click the outside edge of the larger textbox in the working slide which has bullet levels Choose animation tab and select an entrance animation Then select the outside edge of title text box Add an entrance animation to that text box Finally click animation pane and see if the order you just set up for the text boxes to enter in is identified Hit F5 and see if the definition comes in first and then the vocabulary term Go to slide sorter view (bottom right corner, 4 squares) Rearrange your slide order *RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU HAVE FOLLOWED THE ABOVE STEPS AND WERE UNSUCCESSFUL

PARTNER REVIEW TIME One partner will run his/her show Definition first, giving the other partner the opportunity to identify the term If they do they get a point and the next definition goes to the next partner The partners will play two rounds using each person’s powerpoint ***TERM TEST NEXT CLASS***
