HOW TO MEASURE SNOWFALL

SNOW SPOTTING GUIDELINES 1)Be sure to measure in a location that is flat and open Ex. Patio, Deck, Top of car, Grass (last resort) -The best option would be to place a 2 x 2 ft light-colored board in the area at the start of the season and measure on the board

SNOW SPOTTING GUIDELINES 2) As soon as the snow has ended, try to take at least 5 measurements in the area for an average snow accumulation In cases with severe drifting, take an average of the drifted areas and then an average of the scoured areas. 3) Measurements should be made to the nearest tenth of an inch (ex. 4.3 inches)

SNOW SPOTTING GUIDELINES 4) After measuring, be sure to clear off the area of any snow 5) For cases where snow accumulation is less than 0.1 inches, it is a trace or a dusting.

SNOW SPOTTING GUIDELINES 6) Log on to the website to submit your observations:
