Introduction Public Service Announcement (PSA) Audience Survey & Research Content Development Product Design & Development

Our “Strategy” Create & set up an audience survey over the internet. Research NASA’s present communication strategy to refine and improve it. Design an approach to communicate information about NASA’s Mars & Space Exploration programs to the public by linking it to everyday life.

Content Development PSA – 2 main themes: Business - Business opportunities in space & on MARS. - Technology spin-offs Emphasis on a more humanized approach Issues addressed include investment opportunities, job market in space, sustainability issues on earth etc.

Product Design and Development Design – extensive exercise in animation development and video editing. Consulting with Georgia Tech media people on effective communication strategies.

Policy Research & Audience Survey Policy: Choice of Topics Policy: Range of Discussion Mars: Social & Tech Concerns Sustainability Survey Web Site Survey Data Companies and Annual Revenues Civilian Aerospace Exports

Policy: Choice of Topics The Dichotomy: technical & social A Quick History - marginal social concern & technical marginalization

Policy: Range of Discussion NASA’s Current Communications Policy Search Parameters: “NASA” & “Mars” (w/ use of VantagePoint Software & GA Tech’s BUSI – Business Index database) -- Example: “Scientists” -- Associated Keywords: “mars probes” + “outer space”+ “life on other planets”

Mars: Social & Tech Concerns Better Businesses: Expanded Markets / Expanded Services Technological Spin-offs Confronting Sustainability

Sustainability Food Production Water Purification Clean Energy  Air Quality  Waste Management

Survey Web Site Go to: & Enter Survey # 5224
