Presentation transcript:

M. Barnett – October 2012 Survey on Book and Booklet ? 12 years ago (in the year 2000), we carried out a survey on the need for the big book. Thousands responded. 2/3 of our audience wanted us to continue to provide it. The younger people (graduate students and postdocs) wanted it more, because they use it more like a textbook.

M. Barnett – October 2012 The only thing new now is pdgLive. Survey ? The cost of Book and Booklet is a small part of the PDG budget. What would we do if say 50% want it ? What if it is 33% ? book booklet

M. Barnett – October 2012 What about the Booklet ? No one carries it in their shirt pocket anymore. It will soon be an app on your smartphone. Many people do carry a smartphone in their pocket. Survey ?

M. Barnett – October 2012 Should we produce a smaller book, without the Data Listings, so Summary Table and Reviews only ?

M. Barnett – October 2012 So do we do a survey or not ? What would we ask ? What would or could we get out of a survey ? Survey ?
