Bartholomeus Spranger (Netherlandish, 1546–1611). Jupiter and Antiope, Oil on canvas. Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, GG 5752 The first major exhibition devoted to Bartholomeus Spranger (1546– 1611), a fascinating artist who served a cardinal, a pope, and two Holy Roman Emperors, this exhibition examines Spranger's remarkable career through a selection of his rare paintings, drawings, and etchings, most of which are on loan from international museums and private collections.

Mirror Case Mirror cases, which might be considered forerunners of the modern compact, were primarily destined for the aristocracy, and their subject matter reflects the activities and interests of their owners. Here, a lady and gentleman hunt with falcons, accompanied by attendants. Medieval literature frequently drew a parallel between falconry and courtly love, and the playful imagery of this ivory may be read as a metaphorical hunt for love.

Avenue des Gobelins Eugène Atget (French, Libourne 1857–1927 Paris) In this headless mannequin, clothed in a simple white uniform, Atget recognized a modern version of the commedia dell'arte clown Gilles, depicted by the eighteenth-century painter Jean Antoine Watteau, for example. It was for the type of transforming vision seen in this picture, which is among the very last in Atget's lifelong exploration of Paris, that the artist's work was so enthusiastically embraced by the Surrealists.

Sutra Box with Dragons amid Clouds Vigorous, sinewy dragons are frequently depicted on works produced during the reign of the Yongle emperor. Intended to hold a Buddhist text made in the Chinese handscroll format, elegant boxes like this one were produced for both use at the court and as diplomatic gifts, particularly to Tibet.

The Assumption of the Virgin Bernardo Daddi (Italian, Florence (?) ca. 1290–1348 Florence) This work is likely the upper half of an important altarpiece painted for a chapel in the cathedral of Prato, near Florence, which houses the highly venerated girdle, or belt, of the Virgin Mary. The lower section of the panel (now lost) showed Saint Thomas, whose upraised hands reaching for the Virgin's extended girdle are visible at the bottom edge, and possibly the other apostles gathered around the Virgin's deathbed.

The End. The Museum That I choose is The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is located in New York city And is one of the most popular museums in the city. I choose this Museum just because and after looking at some of the art works and reading little parts, it amuses me and its interesting and rare what they have inside of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. My Favorite piece featured in my power point is, The Sutra Box with Dragons Amid Clouds. I chose this piece because it was the most interesting to me, I like the design on the box and the color and its ancient and rare.
