What is safeguarding? It is about knowing how to keep yourself, your friends and your family safe while at school, in the community and on-line. It is about knowing what “feels wrong”- and knowing that you ALWAYS have somebody to talk to about it. We work together as a team to stay safe

What can you talk to us about? Abuse- physical, sexual, physical Bullying- we simply do not tolerate this at HBAED. Neglect. Cyber Bullying Radicalisation/Extremism –Prevent Duty. Forced Marriage. Staying safe on-line Chastisement- what is legal in the UK is different to other countries. Anything that “feels wrong” to you.

It’s good to talk. You must never feel that you cannot talk to us about anything. You can talk to us about you, or one of your friends.

Common Signs of abuse. 1.Withdrawn. 2.Mood swings. 3.Increased sexualised behaviour. 4.Increased aggression- verbal/physical. 5.Change in behaviour/Social groups. 6.Change in emotional state-more prone to crying etc.

HBAED Promise You will ALWAYS be listened to. We will be discreet- only tell the people we need to- the people who can help you. We CANNOT offer confidentiality- we cannot “keep secrets”

Your information. You have ALL received a safeguarding leaflet. Take 5 minutes to read it. Go through it with your parents/carers.

Coloured lanyards. All visitors to HBAED sign in at the front desk, and are given either a RED or a GREEN lanyard.

Green Lanyards. These are for visitors who are “safe” to be left alone to work around the Academy.

Red Lanyards. These are for visitors who have to stay with HBAED staff. If you see someone wearing a red lanyard who is not with a member of staff you MUST tell a member of HBAED staff immediately.
