SVO: The Spanish Virtual Observatory Enrique Solano, LAEFF / SVO Partner’s VO Project  Census of Spanish Data Centres Partner areas of interest among the WP / Collaboration Partner areas of interest among the WP / Collaboration Elements for WP6 (tomorrow). Elements for WP6 (tomorrow).

SVO in IVOA Member of IVOA since June 2004.

SVO funded by the Spanish Ministry of Research and Education VO identified as one of the priority lines. Aim: Coordination of the activities of the Spanish institutes in the VO framework. Contact-point for the international VO-projects Funded from Jan05 to Jan09 7 FTEs from 6 institutes. LAEFF: 4 FTEs. (“SVO core”).

Astronomical archives: take-up of VO standards.

VO applications and analysis tools Automatic classification of light curves  Similar tools are being developed for the COROT and GAIA projects.

VO applications and analysis tools VOSED: a Spectral Energy distribution builder and model fitting.

Theory in the VO Theoretical model web server + TSAP

Other SVO funded initiatives: ASTRID-CM “Development and exploitation of astronomical instrumentation”. Title: “Development and exploitation of astronomical instrumentation”. Project approved by the Regional Government (“Comunidad de Madrid”) €. Funded from Jan 2006 to Jan FTE (postdoc) for VO activities.

ASTRID-CM: VO Services DAMA DAMA: a preparatory tool for the DARWIN mission Darwin will search for Earth-like planets around other stars. A careful target selection of potential candidates is a critical issue. DAMA: DAMA: a service to get all the information already available about the potential DARWIN candidates following a VO methodology.

ASTRID-CM: VO Science From Class 0 to Class III:Search and classification.

Multiwavelength studies of star-forming galaxies. ASTRID-CM: VO Science

Other SVO funded initiatives: CONSOLIDER - GTC “First Science with GTC” Title: “First Science with GTC” Project of excellence approved by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Research €. Funded from Nov 2006 to Nov FTE (postdoc) for VO activities. (probably) VO compliance of the GTC archive Data analysis/mining tools for the key science projects.

The SVO Thematic Network More than 70 researches from 19 institutes. Comprising all the Spanish groups with interest in VO.

SVO Thematic Network: VO Radio Archives (IAA)

SVO Thematic Network: VO compliance of catalogues Libraries of observed FGKM-type stars (UCM).

An exhaustive multiwavelenght study of a complete sample of ~1000 isolated galaxies. SVO Thematic Network: VO compliance of catalogues The AMIGA catalogue (IAA).

SVO Thematic Network: VO Services PVOL PVOL: A management system of planetary images (UPV)

SVO Thematic Network: Theory (IAA) PVOL: A management system of planetary images

SVO Thematic Network: Data Mining BD Preprocessing Classification Expert systems RNAs Clustering Spectra A management Automated classification of stellar spectra using A.I techniques (U. Coruña)

SVO Thematic Network: VO Science Characterization of the population of the σ Orionis cluster. (IAC)

SVO: The Spanish Virtual Observatory Enrique Solano, LAEFF / SVO Partner’s VO Project  Census of Spanish Data Centres Partner areas of interest among the WP. Collaboration Partner areas of interest among the WP. Collaboration Elements for WP6 (tomorrow). Elements for WP6 (tomorrow).

SVO areas of interest among the EuroVO-DCA WPs “Support to take-up and implementation of the VO framework”. WP3: “Support to take-up and implementation of the VO framework”.  Close relation to WP6 “Theory in the VO” WP4: “Theory in the VO”  IAA, LAEFF “Coordination with computational grid projects” WP5: “Coordination with computational grid projects” IAA leads an e-Science proposal in Andalusia CESCA (Supercomputing Centre of Catalonia): high expertise in GRID & computational resources.
