Britain and France both had claimed part of the Ohio River Valley. The British wanted the land to farm because of the rich soil, the French wanted it to catch beavers to trade fur. In the year 1754 they began to fight soon it turned into war. The Native Americans took the side of the French. Even with the help the British won the war and claimed a lot of land.

After the British claimed so much land, the colonists wanted to move west. But the Native Americans wouldn’t move again, so Britain passed a law, that said the colonists weren’t allowed to move west of the Appalachian Mountains. The British made colonists buy only British tea. The colonists were so mad that they planned and actually achieved dressing up as Mohawk Native Americans and dumped the tea into Boston Harbor.
