Birth Life Louis was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was 5 when his mother and father separated- Willie and Mary Ann Armstrong.
Middle life By 7 years old he was already working to help support his family. He would sing, and doing work with a junk wagon owned by Russian Jewish immigrants.

Adult Life Later in his life he went off to be a famous singer and jazz trumpet player. He learned how to play and sing while he was in an juvenile delinquent center.
Adult life He won several different awards from singing and playing the trumpet. He got a Grammy, a noble peace prize, and best male vocal performance.
Later Life He continued to sing and play his intrument.
