Leadership Refined Positive Attitude Lesson Six

Whether you think you can or think you can’t, you’re probably right. Henry Ford Hhhmmm…

The last time we met we talked about having a servant attitude and doing things for other people. You were challenged to do some secret random acts of kindness. What happened? What did you do? What were the results? What was reflected back to you?

Positive Attitude A positive attitude is more than just pasting a smile on your face and pretending that everything is fine. If you’ve got a positive attitude it’s because... 1.You know that attitude is a choice. 2.You believe that attitude determines your actions. 3.You know how to maintain a positive outlook.

Nature Says... “No matter what life dishes out, stay focused, know where you’re going, and keep trying to get there.” This tree in the Hartwick Pines forest kept on growing, and growing and growing. It didn’t matter that a storm came and nearly knocked it on its feet. A little pressure wasn’t about to get it down. In spite of the obstacles, It went after the sun.

Traffic Jam Here’s the rules: 1.A person may move into the empty space directly in front of them. 2.A person may move around a person who is facing them. 3.You may not move backwards. 4.Two people may not move at once. 5.You may not move around someone who is facing the same direction as you. This is a great attitude checking game. One group stands on the places to the left of the middle square, the other group stands on the places to the right. Both groups face the middle with one unoccupied square in the middle. The object is to have the two groups exchange places moving along the line. It’s harder than it looks, but you CAN solve the problem.

Hhmmm How did it go? 2.Did anyone lose their cool? 3.Did anyone want to lose their cool? Why? 4.What does it take to not get mad, upset, or quit when you really want to? 5.Who became the leader? 6.How did they become the leader? 7.How did you feel as a follower? 8.What kind of leader did it take to solve this problem? 9.What did it take from the followers to be able to solve this problem? 10.What other character traits did you see today?

Journal #8 Think about the hardest thing you’ve had to face in your life. Tell about it in your journal. How did you handle the situation? What was your attitude? Did you get mad and lose it? Did you lock up and not talk? What did you do to not get lost in the situation?

Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain… and most do. Dale Carnegie Take this with you…
