Facts Chichen Itza is a large Pre-Columbian archeological site built by the Maya civilization located in the northern center of the Yucatan Peninsula. El Castillo is a step -pyramid topped by a temple to Mayan God Kukulcan. It is 91 feet high with 91 steps plus the top platform- totaling 365 steps one for each day of the year.
