2010 AZ Common Core Standards What do the 2010 Arizona Common Core State Standards mean for students? Help prepare students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in education and training after high school. Clearer standards help students understand what is expected of them. Consistent expectations across states for all students, regardless of where they live or if they decide to attend college or pursue a job. Relevant content and application of knowledge through high-order thinking skills Help ensure Arizona students are globally competitive. Full implementation of Common Core Standards will be in school year.

Textbooks Honors Math 7 –Math Thematics-Book 3 Math 7- Math Thematics – Book 2 *Textbooks can be checked out of the media center with teacher approval. ** Resource book - Math on Call

Class Expectations Students have the right to learn in a safe environment. No one has the right to interfere with the learning of others. 1 st Disruption- Verbal Warning 2 nd Disruption- Loss of C.A.R.E.S. Points 3 rd Disruption – Removal from room and completion of conduct reflection.

Absences Students have as many days as absent to make up missed work. Students are responsible for acquiring all missed work and turning it in on time. “While You Were Out” forms will be filled out and all applicable papers available for student retrieval.

Homework Homework will be assigned most nights to practice the skills taught in class. Math homework should take no more than min a night. Reference student’s agenda for daily assignments, they will be highlighted. Late homework is not be accepted. Homework is worth 5 points a day and based on effort, quality and completion. Full process/procedure, as modeled in class must be shown to receive full points. Students will receive a grade based on homework completion. A parent signature will be required on student homework logs once a week (Thursday hw) so you may see their actual homework score percentage.

How To Be Successful in 7 th Grade! Learn your multiplication facts. Complete and turn in your homework assignments everyday. Show all work! Ask quality questions when you don’t “get” something. Use your math notes! Be organized! Come to tutoring, if needed. Try your very best!
