 From what we already know…  Who was winning the war?

 April 6, 1917, United States enters the war.  Throws off the balance of the war, in favor of the allies.

 Many believed because of the horror of WW1, there would never be a war like this ever again… and to assure it doesn’t happen, allied leaders got together in Paris.

 Wilson set forward 14 points which would allow for peace 1. Open Diplomacy 2. Freedom of Navigation 3. Free Trade 4. Multilateral disarmament 5. Colonies 6. Russia- Allowed to operate any government it wants 7. Belgium-Evacuated and Restored

8) France- Lands taken away and restored 9) Italy- Border readjusted with nationality 10) National- Self- Determination- Independence to national groups in Europe 11) Romania Montenegro, should be evacuated, Serbia given access to the sea. 12) Turkey should have a say in their future 13) Poland should become independent. 14) League of Nations, An assembly of all nations assembled to protect world peace.

 Resembled Wilson’s 14 Points, yet spelled out much more in terms of punishing Germany.  440 Clauses  Established the League of Nations.

 Germany Must accept ALL blame for the war  Germany was to repay all damage caused by the war  Germany was not allowed to have an airforce, army to be reduced to 100,000 men, only 6 naval ships with no sub’s, the Rhineland area was to be kept demilitarized!

 Because of all of the sanctions on Germany…  How do you think this will affect Germany?  Using your knowledge in history, what is going to happen? What will this lead to?
