Dependability

What is Dependability? Dependability is fulfilling what I consented to do, even if it means unexpected sacrifice.

Dependability What is Dependability? Words and actions are the currency of relationships, and preserving trust is easier than repairing it.

Dependability Carry the Load Identify your responsibilities and set priorities—because a lot rides on your dependability.

Dependability ” “ Don’t ever promise more than you can deliver, but always deliver more than you promise. — Lou Holtz

Dependability for Developing Dependability

Dependability 1 Be Careful What You Promise Take commitments seriously.

Dependability 1 Be Careful What You Promise Evaluate what you can accomplish. Set achievable goals. Avoid flippant promises. Take time to make a good decision.

Dependability Clarify Expectations Get the details you need in order to do the right thing. 2

Dependability Clarify Expectations Ask clarifying questions. Identify your ordinary responsibilities. Recognize your assumptions, and make sure they are accurate. 2

Dependability Get It Done Put the plan into action, and overcome the obstacles along the way. 3

Dependability Get It Done Plan your strategy. Find the supplies and information you will need. Make adjustments when challenges arise. 3

Dependability Correct Mistakes Fix it now instead of waiting until later. 4

Dependability Correct Mistakes Develop your own quality control checklist. Make it right, even if no one else has noticed. Look for ways to improve. Involve everyone who is part of the problem or the solution. Accept correction constructively. 4

Dependability Have a Good Attitude Think about what you can do today. 5

Dependability Have a Good Attitude Do not complain when an agreement requires more than you anticipated. Pitch in and help coworkers. Take the first step, even when success seems impossible. Work through one issue at a time. 5

Dependability

1.Name someone who demonstrates consistent dependability. How do his or her words and actions show trustworthiness? 2.When did your assumptions get you in trouble? What questions can you ask in order to clarify issues and goals? 3.What are some unexpected sacrifices you have made in order to get a job done? 4.What steps do you take to correct mistakes? How should you respond when someone corrects you? 5.How can you keep a good attitude when circumstances make your life harder?
