Indigenous People and the Media environmental health and environmental racism is Canada

Learning Goals  You will be asked to examine and think about environmental health and environmental racism is Canada. You will be asked to answer the question; How is environmental health and environmental racism in Canada an example of present day ‘dependency theory’ being practiced upon Indigenous People in Canada by the dominant Canadian economic society?

Learning Criteria  By the end of class you should be able to;  Define ‘Dependency Theory’.  Explain how dependency theory applies to the relationship that the dominant Canadian culture has upon Indigenous people in Canada.  Define environmental racism and give examples of its presences in Canada  Define environmental Health.  Explain how environmental racism is effecting the environmental health of Indigenous communities in Canada.

Dependency Theory  MY2ApQ MY2ApQ  This is being explained on a global level. However you will need to link this back to Canada’s relationship with Indigenous people and land in Canada.
