Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) Conference Call July 25-26, 2007

Progress FO-4 continues to make effective and important contributions to optical fiber standards –Cables –Connectors –Systems FTTx –Test criteria Although progress continues, the Engineering Committee is impacted with negative growth

Motion Merge FO-4 with TR-42 to take effect in February 2008 at a joint FO-4/TR-42 meeting –FO-4 and TR-42 have successfully had joint meetings since February 2007 resulting in both committees working together –FO-4 has not been able to have an Engineering Chair nominated and willing to take the position since February Bob Jensen is interim chair

FO-4 brings optical fiber expertise to TR-42.8 and its other Subcommittees –Akin to TR-42.7 on copper systems expertise from component to systems to testing Lines of demarcation of long-lines and premises continue to gray Opens up market penetration to FO-4 members (allows focus to premises) Supporting Information

Needs Shift June meeting from first week to second week of the month FO-4 participation may only be necessary 2 times a year rather than 3 times a year (February and June)
