Very small dimensions The higher performances obtained with the FLEX! line, allow almost half dimensions as conventional technology and higher performances. An example is Flex6024A 60W with maximum current till 6A. In permanent duty at 40°C it can deliver 3A at 24Vdc. 100mm 50mm 115mm 110mm 50mm Power supply actually in the market Flex6024A

… Or we can obtain a higher operating temperatures till 70°C with 5 A at 60 °C Power Boost 7,5 A (3 minutes) with Flex 17024… We can obtain more current … 7.5 A at 40 °C Do you need more current? Do you need a wider operating temperature range? Just One Power Supply for all needs FLEX! fits all applications
FFLEX! supplies 50% more permanent current in applications at 40°C. uDuring transients FLEX! can supply up to 100% more current than rated. As a consequence it is not necessary to step up the size of the power supply to meet peak load requirements. Higher Current / Power 100% Power 60°C 150% Power at 60°C
FLEX! 280 e 500 can be easily connected in parallel to increase available power. They don’t need a centesimal adjustment, just use a tester to regulate the first and than the second. Just remove the jumper and it is done. Easy parallel for double power Remove Jumpers Double Power
FLEX! devices and 500W are equipped with Power Good relais contact “Power Good” Output voltage status control The Power Good contact switches from NC to NA when the output voltage goes below -10% of rated (20Vdc at rated 24Vdc).Over Load Situation. It is particulary useful as monitor, in redundancy applications
1st protection mode “Hiccup” HICCUP (automatic restart): This is the default factory setting of all FLEX! units In case of short-circuit or overloading, the output current is interrupted. The device tries again to reestablish output voltage and normal condition about every 2 second till the problem is cleared. Jumper position
2nd protection mode “Manual reset” MANUAL RESET (manual restart by operator): In case of short- circuit or overloading, the output current is interrupted. In order to restart the output it is necessary to interrupt the input circuit for about 1 minute. This protection mode is particulary suggested in applications where safety procedures require that reset be carried out by an authorized physical person. Jumper position
3rd protection mode “Continuous Out Mode” Over load Short Circuit FFOLD BACK In case of a short- circuit or overload this protection mode does not shut down the output but reduce the voltage and regulate current. WWhen a short circuit or an overload occur the FLEX! unit output can accept up to 1,5 times rated current (In) at 60°C (in some units even more). The output voltage is gradually reduced till almost zero as the current increase. In this mode the unit never switches off. Jumper position
FLEX! Meets EN Regulation The regulation EN addresses safety issues in industrial applications where power supply to a load is delivered by electronic stabilized power supply devices. Safety in case of overload is a specific focus of the norm. Particularly in case the load is subdivided in more circuits with individual overload protection devices The main requirement of the norms is that the power supply must be able to withstand a current at least 50% higher than its rated value for 1hr, while at the same time keeping the output voltage within -10% of rated value
Conforming to EN requirements implies a … If the power supply does not meet the requirements … …change in circuit design criteria …it is no longer allowed to use a power supply whose rated current is the same of rated load demand Important, immediate and practical consequence FLEX! Meets EN Regulation
In choosing the protection devices for a selective protection of the output loads conforming with EN , a good safety margin is needed between the thermal overload threshold of each protection device and the rated current of the power supply. This because if they are too close, the power supply will switch off before the protection device has the time to sense the overload. There are only two possible solutions: increase the size of the power supply to achieve the required margin (more expensive) or use devices designed specifically for this conditions, as FLEX! FLEX! Meets EN Regulation
With FLEX! it is possible to have 50% more current than the rated value at 60°C. In this way FLEX! guarantee the selective protection of individual output lines Example in previous slide: Flex28024A can supply a continuous load of 10A 40°C). In case of overload, it will deliver up to 15A and keep the output voltage within -10% of rated (as EN requires). This allows to choose a magneto-thermic switch with a tripping threshold set within 50% above rated current of the power supply. In case of overload on one of the output lines, the magneto-thermic switch protecting that line will have the time to intervene, thereby assuring a continuing power supply to the other line (PLC) of the circuit.
