May Term

What is it? Is an educational opportunity for senior students to either… find their own internship create, plan, and execute a project May Term begins on May 19th – June 2nd Students are required to be involved for 7 hours per day for 9 days.

Project vs. Internship Project Cultural Study Service Fine Arts Science, Technology, Engineering, Math Will have a teacher/staff advisor- no parents! Will be required to use Moodle. Internship Working with an adult supervisor in an educational or business setting. (no parents) Will be required to use Moodle to communicate directly with May Term advisors.

Examples of Projects Internships at hospitals, businesses, profit and non-profit companies Service-learning projects- Three rivers parks, Alex Lemonade stand, bird houses for the city of Edina Education- internship at Concord, Normandale, preschools, and high school Travel studies- study art in Paris, central America

Who can apply? Any Senior – we want to encourage any senior who is remotely interested to consider participating in May Term as this is an educational experience outside of the walls of EHS. Provided that all attendance and graduation requirements are met by May 15 th. Students need to me in good academic standing in all classes (C or better). Any on-line (BYU) courses need to be completed by May 15 th.

Application Process Start gathering ideas now. Ms. Pusateri or Mrs. Kieffer with questions. Applications will be available on-line by Dec. 1st. Early Decision Applications Due by Feb. 11th Application deadline is March 18 at 3:30 in the main office. No late applications will be accepted. Must include SASE and $35.00 check. Every PERSON must submit an application (even if you are in a group) Committee will meet to review applications and application status will be communicated with the applicants by March 30 th.

Goal Our goal is to have ALL seniors participating in May Term. It’s a win-win for you. Great experience for you. Could lead to a job/internship…. You are done with school on June 2 nd (All other seniors are required to be in school through June 6 th, including finals!)
