Who would like to share their perfect leader?

The perfect leader for China

China’s perfect leader- Confucius Honesty If you want people to follow you and trust you a leader must be honest with them. Even when it is information that will be hard for them to hear, it is vital that you speak the truth

China’s perfect leader Persistence-Hard work. It is important for a leader to be hard working because a leader has to be the example for other people. Persistence is important because there will be times when a leader does not have the answer to a problem and they are going to have to work hard to come up with a solution, rather than give up

Care for others The people who look to the leader need to know that the leader cares for them. The leader needs to let their followers know that they want what is best for them and they care about them as individuals

Confucius: The man who tried to create the perfect society

How to make a perfect society 1.How does a leader treat his people? 2.How do the people treat their leader? These two questions are the bases of Confucius philosophy Today we are going to focus on the second question

Good Citizens Confucius did not teach people about religion. He taught people how to be good leaders he taught people how to be good people

How to be a good citizen? In order to be a good citizen you have to understand these five relationships 1.Father to son 2.Oldest brother to youngest brother 3.Husband to wife 4.Ruler to subject 5.Friend to friend

Confucius In these five relationships, people were not equal. Older people were superior to younger people men were superior to women rulers were superior to citizens. It was important for superior people to take care of their inferiors and set a good example

Filial Piety  Filial Piety is respect for your parents.  You trust your parents judgment and follow what they say happily  You sacrifice your own happiness for your family

Do you agree with Confucius that they most important thing in life is to honor your family?

Silent debate You will be working in pairs One student must defend Jacqueline (filial piety) One student will defend Daniel (individuality) Remember it is important to be able to see things from multiple perspectives Each student will begin with their own paper. They will have 4 mins. to defend their position through writing. We will than switch and the student will respond to one another. We will do this for three rounds

Lets see what we think
