Presentation transcript:

 When a person is unable to reproduce.  Both Males and Females can be sterile.  Males are unable to produce healthy sperm.  This may be due to environmental factors such as chemical exposure.  Medical research is discovering more about the causes of sterility and how it can be prevented.

 This is when one of the testes does not descend into the scrotum at birth.  This does not necessarily cause medical problems and is not considered a disease.  But sperm may not develop properly in an undescended testis.

 A hernia occurs when part of the intestine pushes into the scrotum through a weak spot in the wall near the scrotum.  Surgery is almost always necessary to fix this.

 A common problem in men after middle age.  Can cause some pain and discomfort.  Surrounds the urethra so may make it painful or difficult to urinate.

 Cancer is an uncontrolled cell growth that invades the surrounding tissue and destroys it.  Prostate is the most common in men.  Testicular cancer occurs in men between the ages of 15 and 34.

 Cleanliness  Protection / Prevention – Wearing protection during athletic activity.  Tight Clothing should be avoided  Lifting Heavy Objects – Avoid a hernia  Frequent Medical Exams

Powerpoint, Posterboard, Brochure  Include  Name of disorder  What happens  Male? Female? Both?  Cost of treatment?  Is surgery required?  Pictures if applicable  What percent of people have this problem?
