JIMS PBIS Basic Training

The Purpose Sets the tone for the school year right out of the gate Building-wide efforts reach every student within the first 3 days (Back to School Boot Camp). Expectations are clearly demonstrated to all students. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

The Payoff Teachers will all be on the same page as how to educate students on building-wide behaviors Consistency across the board will reduce the number of BIC referrals, Lunch Detentions, Major Referrals, and Instructional time lost Will help to maintain student and faculty moral It’s a way to celebrate our successes

Day 1 - Morning Procedures Morning Arrival Expectations  Upon arrival all students should walk around the building and go to their grade levels designated area  6 th Grade – Behind Backstop (not on patio by tech doors)  7 th Grade – On field by the gym doors (not by gym doors)  8 th Grade – Basketball court and field behind drop off loop (not on ramp)  Students will not be permitted into the building to drop off instruments Breakfast  Students wishing to eat breakfast must go to the cafeteria immediately through back entrance Line Up  When the whistle is blown, students should line up in their designated area and wait for their teacher to escort them into the building

Day 1 - Transitions and Hallway Hallway Behavior  Indoor Voice Level  Level 0 – No talking Level 0 should be used at the teachers discretion  Level 1 – Casual conversation to be heard by people at arms length only Level 1 should be used in all areas of the building unless otherwise directed by your teacher  Outside Voice Only to be used outside on recess.  No food or drink in the hallway

Day 1 – Transitions and Hallway Continued Hallway Behavior  Traffic patterns will be addressed per grade level  Students should WALK on the right side of all hallways at all times using no more than a level 1 voice  Students should not stop and wait for other students in the hallway  Behaviors will be retaught during RECESS if not followed correctly  Students should have an agenda in the hallway at all times  Nurse, restroom, media center, office, etc.

Day 2 – Nurse, Restroom and Cafeteria Expectations Restrooms  Students must have their own agenda in order to use the restroom  Restroom passes should be signed on the day planner, not in the back of the book  Students should maintain a level 1 voice while being in the restroom  Restroom is not a hangout, do your business and get out! Nurse  Nurse is for emergencies only!  The nurse can not issue ANY type of medication including cough drops and TUMS

Day 2 – Nurse, Restroom, Cafeteria and Recess Expectations Cafeteria  Students should walk to the cafeteria using a level 1 voice  Students should use a level 1 voice while inside the cafeteria at all times  Students should sit at their homeroom table  Students should stand in a single file line  Students should wait their turn to order food. Do Not Cut!  Cutting in line will result in being placed at the end of the line  No Food or Drink may be taken outside of the cafeteria  Vending Machines will be used at Principal discretion  Dismissal as per grade level

Day 2 – Nurse, Restroom, Cafeteria and Recess Expectations Recess  Students will be dismissed by teacher for recess  While on recess students should stay away from windows of other classrooms  Students should be in plain view of teachers  Students should keep their shoes on at all times  Students should not gather under the tech wing awning  If students would like to sit, they should sit on the benches underneath the trees  When the whistle blows, students should line up promptly Recess is a Privilege!!

Day 3 – End of Day Dismissal Car riders and Walkers  When dismissed, students should leave the building immediately  Students should leave using the designated dismissal door per grade level  6 th Grade – Walkers-Through the front door/ Car rider- Tech wing doors  7 th Grade – Tech wing doors  8 th Grade – Doors by Mr. Jordan’s room at end of 8 th grade hallway  When dismissed, students should use a level 1 voice while walking through the hallway

Day 3 – End of Day Dismissal Buses  When dismissed, students should leave the building immediately  Students should leave using the designated dismissal door per grade level  6 th Grade – Through the front door  7 th Grade – Through the 7 th grade hallway front door  8 th Grade - Through doors by nurse’s office  When dismissed, students should use a level 1 voice while walking through the hallway  Students may leave only when their bus has been dismissed  Bus riders should not leave with car riders and walkers  Students who violate this will be given after school detention for being out of area
