2-2 TEMPERATURE
Fahrenheit and Celsius Gabriel Fahrenheit ( ) was one of the first to develop a thermometer. His standards were quite arbitrary. Scientists eventually went with Anders Celsius ( ) system because it fit the metric system better.
William Thomson, Lord Kelvin ( ) developed a system that is the SI standard today based on Absolute Zero. This is the point where ALL molecular motion STOPS completely. THIS IS A THEORETICAL MEASURE
Conversion. o C =5/9 x ( o F - 32) Conversion. o F = 9/5 o C + 32 SI unit Kelvin (K) contains absolute zero. (-273 o C) Conversion. o C = K – 273 Conversion. K = o C Temperature Conversions
