Personal Information Thomson was born on the 26 th of July in 1824 in Belfast Ireland. Kelvin was a 19 th century physicist which showed how to the use the absolute scale of temperature. Thomson was made professor in 1846 of the natural philosophy at Glasgow. On December 17, 1907 Lord Kelvin died at the age of 83.
