Introduction to Mandarin August 31, 2011 格拉汉姆先生

Introduction  Student gives news report – Cameron  We are all going to choose Chinese names  Boys names  Girls names  Review geography on old slides.  Get out homework. Review each exercise.  Finish pictures  High level book.

Page 5 and 6  Listen to CD, track 2 again.  Review vocabulary.  Call on students to define words and characters.  Students come to board to write characters.  All practice the character 谢

Page 7 and 8  Students translate exercise 3  Together do exercises 4 and 5  Students read exercise 5 in groups.

Page 9  Radicals  Practice characters  Demonstrate correct stroke orders  TOP LEFT TO BOTTOM RIGHT  Numbers 1-10  Homework: in workbook, page 4.  Also, please do all exercises on pages 6,7,8,9  Write each character on page 8 five times using correct stroke orders.  Quiz on lessons 1 and 2 coming up next week on Wednesday.

Homework  Choose a Chinese name. Create a name card that has it written in Chinese and pinyin. Also, write your English name on the card. This can be as decorative or as colorful as you want. You can choose a unique name or can put your name into Google Translate to just do a direct translation. Or, Mr. Salzer can give you a name.
