RESOURCES: Room C11 Room C11 in Alliance MBS East is a group study room which all Alliance MBS UG students can book via the Undergraduate Office in D20. This room is available from 10am to 4pm each weekday. Students will have to leave their student card at D20 for the duration of the booking. Alternatively, the Learning Commons has more rooms.

REMINDERS FOR YOUR DEGREE WEIGHTINGS For IM and IMABS programmes, the weightings are: Year 1: Zero Year 2: 33% Year 3 Zero Year 4: 67% The third year (abroad) is graded pass/fail and is not included in the final degree classification

IM Students: Year Two Modules Students must pass the second year to proceed to the year abroad – this includes any courses carried forward from the first year! Students take International Business (10 credits) and International Business Strategy (10 credits) as well as a further 20 credits of designated international options. Availability of options changes from year to year and pre-requisites/co-requisites apply. It is important that you achieve good grades during your first two years. In particular, passing the first year is essential and your performance may be taken into account during the allocation process. You also continue with your Personal Development Plan.

Students take American Society and Economy (20 credits) which covers the economic, financial and legal systems of North America, and also includes business and labour history. Manchester Global Award The University has an Award called the ‘Manchester Global Award’ The Manchester Global Award is comprised of 3 components: (1). Completion of a 10 credit ‘global’ University College Unit (developed in conjunction with the Study Abroad Unit) (2). Completion of a period of international experience – you will be able to meet this requirement through your planned participation in a year abroad in 2016/2017 (as long as you complete that year successfully) (3). A digital presentation – bringing together your experiences abroad and the theories/ideas covered in the academic unit. However, there is a student cap of 25 students, so you will need to register quickly.

Academic malpractice The University regards plagiarism and other forms of academic malpractice, such as collusion and fabrication or falsification of results, as serious academic offences. IMPORTANT DATES FOR YEAR ABROAD PREPARATION It is essential that all students attend the following meetings in preparation for their year abroad: Wednesday 21 st October 2015 IMABS – 1.00pm to 2.15pm (Room B10, MBS East) IM – 2.15pm to 3.30pm (Room B10, MBS East) International Fair – 3.30pm to 5.00 pm (MBS Atrium, MBS East) The Fair is an opportunity to meet Final Year MBS students who have been on exchange and incoming exchange students from exchange partner institutions Wednesday 9 th March 2016 IMABS – 2.00 pm (Crawford Lecture Theatre 1) IM – 2.00 pm (Crawford Lecture Theatre 2) This is an opportunity to talk to students who have been to the destination you will be going to and to exchange students who are from the partner institution/country Wednesday 11th May 2016 IMABS – 2.00pm to 3.30pm (Room B10, MBS East) IM – 3.30pm to 5.00pm (Room B10, MBS East) Your Pre-Departure Meeting ENSURE THAT THESE DATES ARE IN YOUR DIARIES.
