Focus Statement Pollution is dangerous and it destroys the environment and it makes us sick. 3 BIG Questions 1. What are the causes of water pollution. 2. What are the effects of water pollution. 3. How can we prevent water pollution.

Causes of water pollution in the UAE Fujairah -“ The spill stretched almost 10 kilometres from Khor Fakkan to Al Aqah.” Abu Dhabi - An illegal waste deposit lays on the shores near the mangrove islands. Dubai - a brown sludge found oozing into the waters off Jumeirah Public Beach.

Causes of water pollution in India Yamuna is one of the most polluted rivers in the world where 58% of the waste from New Delhi is dumped into the river The Ganges is the most sacred river for Hindus. Chemical waste, sewage and corpses float across the water body. The polluted river waters of the Ganges at Sangam, in Allahabad.

Effects of water pollution Consuming polluted water can cause severe nausea,mild headaches and breathing problems or severe skin rashes. Water pollution affect the wildlife in and around the water. Oil or chemical spills kill or sicken the fish and birds. Birds can become trapped in piles of floating trash or are unable to fly. Plant life becomes choked in oil and often dies quickly.

How can we prevent water pollution? Make sure that you throw away your rubbish in a responsible manner. Never dump anything in a river, the ocean or down a drain. Materials like paper, plastics or tin cans contain chemicals that can pollute water. Do not throw chemicals, oils, paints and medicines down the sink drain, or the toilet.
