Location of works Canal Centre Model Railway Club Frimley Lodge Park New 40m landing stage Bank protection and paving of towpath Existing landing stage refurbished 100m GUILDFORD ROAD One of the most popular sections of the Canal with the general public
Work undertaken Installation of fabric on posts (“soft”) bank protection, and widening of the towpath
Work undertaken Construction of new sheet- piled landing stage near Guildford Road bridge
Work undertaken Refurbishment of existing landing stage (near model railway club), including installation of bollards
Work undertaken Paving of entire length (about 400m) with hard-wearing roadstone
Work undertaken Donation and installation of hard-wood seat near the new landing stage
£25K funded from Steljes environmental fine (administered by SHBC) Costs
330 man days by the Canal Society, equivalent to £27K value in kind, plus around £1K in cash donation
However, please note… A long section of towpath down to the Canal Centre still needs repair…
