HOW SMAART ARE QOL PLAN GOALS? Group Exercise

Actual QoL Plan Goals For each goal Is it SMAART? Why or why not? Can anything be done to make it SMAARTer?

Examples By 2013, develop housing for youth in who are aging out of foster care Improve K-12 educational opportunities for the neighborhood Develop a family literacy program reaching 50% of South Central Elkhart families by 2016 to support strong families Increase availability of employment services Address high foreclosure rates

Examples Improve the character of the neighborhood by adding 10 park benches and planters to key locations by 2016 The Cultural Trail is complete through Fountain Square and Fletcher Place Improve housing conditions Reduce the negative impact of at least 95 vacant and abandoned or substandard housing units in Census Tract 6 by strategic rehabilitation of single family homes, production of quality market rate and affordable rental housing, demolition and redevelopment and other measures by end of 2018
