Are you ready to experience your Nation’s Capitol?

You will depart on your overnight bus trip to Washington D.C., stopping for meals en-route (not included). Upon your arrival, you will meet your tour manager and begin your day of touring. Buffet breakfast at Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens. Mount Vernon - the estate and gardens of our first president, George Washington. You will have time to see a film at the visitor center, tour his home and explore the grounds. White House Photo Stop. Lunch at National Place. Holocaust Museum and Daniels Story Exhibit - you can learn about the Holocaust from the perspective of a child. This exhibit presents the history of the Holocaust in ways that children can understand. Guided tour of the FDR, Jefferson, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorials. Dinner at Vie de France. You will arrive at your hotel and check in

You will have breakfast and board the bus to begin your day. Arlington National Cemetery - you will take a tour and see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Changing of the Guard Ceremony, the Challenger Memorial and the Kennedy Grave Sites. Visit Iwo Jima Memorial. Visit Ford’s Theatre and the Petersen House. You’ll have lunch at the Capitol Building. Capitol Building - You will visit the Capitol Building where you will see the visitors center and exhibits about the legislative branch of our government. Visit Library of Congress – You will see some of the most exquisite and ornate buildings in Washington DC. You will get to view the reading room and see some of the great architecture throughout the building. Visit the Supreme Court Dinner at the Georgetown University Dining Hall. Visit Einstein Memorial. You will visit the World War II, Vietnam War, Lincoln, and Korean War Memorials. You will return to the hotel for the evening.

You will have breakfast, check out of the hotel, and board the bus to begin your last day. Visit the National Zoo - explore this 163-acre zoological park that is home to more than 400 species of animals. The Panda exhibit is always a big hit here! National Air & Space Museum -the Museum has thousands of objects on display, including the 1903 Wright Flyer, Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis, the Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia, and a lunar rock you can touch. You will have lunch at the National Air & Space Museum. African American Museum - tells the story of African American history and culture and will be a place of meaning, of memory, of reflection, of laughter, and of hope with it's artifacts and archival documents. Visit Air Force Memorial and 9/11 Memorial at the Pentagon. Board bus for overnight trip home.

Idlewild Elementary Staff members will be the only chaperons for this trip. This is a trip for the students and we would like to take as many students as possible. There will be an administrator on this trip as chaperone.

Behavior is the key!! 5 th Grade year – must maintain E,G, or S in conduct on progress reports & report cards – Cannot have any suspensions, in-school, out of school – Can only have 2 detentions Maintain a minimum of a “C” average in all subjects
