First Non-stick Pan The Teflon that coats non- stick pans today was invented by Dr. Roy Plunkett in Teflon was used to keep weapons from rusting during World War 2. An engineer named Marc Gregoire used to coat his fishing gear to prevent rusting. His wife suggested using it on her pans. They later patented the idea. The first non-stick pan was made in 1954.

First Home Microwave Oven The microwave was created by Dr. Percy Spencer while he was trying to make an active radar. The first home microwave was manufactured in 1955 by Tappan. It was a large, 220 volt, wall unit that was being sold for $1300. It didn’t sell well due to its price. More Info

Tupperware Tupperware was created in 1946 by Earles S. Tupper. The sale of Tupperware took off after World War 2 because of Tupperware parties. Women were taken out of the workforce post-war, so they held Tupperware parties as a way to be apart of the workforce.
