Complete Examination Practice Set 1 Task 1a

Health in the 21st Century Introduction: As we approach the 21st century, we foresee the following changes in healthcare as well as the major health threats. State the issue

Changes in Healthcare General speaking, there will be three changes in healthcare in the 21 st century. First, prevention will be more important than cure. This is because many people cannot afford treatment and medicine has become less effective. To make this happen, doctors need to tell patients more about diet and lifestyle. Sub-heading Topic sentenceTopic marker Reasons How people make it happen The change

Another change is that Chinese medicine will become more scientific. There are three reasons which account for it. First, doctors of Chinese medicine want it to be accepted around the world. Second, doctors of Western medicine want to use it. Third, producers want to sell their products to more people. The change will take place when scientists test the medicines in laboratories. Topic marker The change Topic marker Reasons How people make it happen

In the 21st century, countries will also co-operate more to fight diseases. This is because diseases are spreading more quickly due to travel and trade. If this is so, health organizations around the world will need to communicate better. Topic marker The change Reason How people make it happen

Health Threats There will be some major health threats in the 21st century. Super diseases are one health threat. This is brought about by the overuse of medicine. Diseases don’t respond to them anymore. Another threat is disease from food. The causes are poor hygiene and unnatural methods of producing food. A third health threat is environmental diseases, which are caused by outdoor pollution and poor indoor air quality. Sub-heading Topic sentence Topic marker Threats cause

Conclusion Whatever changes there will be in healthcare, it remains important for us to take good care of our health so that we can face the various health threats in the new century. Round up with a new idea which is related to the topic
