Take notes on page 65. Use these notes to complete the annotated bibliography for your social studies project. What is an annotated bibliography? An annotated bibliography is a way to give credit to the people and places you get your research from. You will collect certain pieces of information from your sources and write them down. What is a source? A source is any place you get information during your research that you use in your project.

What information do I need from each source? You will need different types of information for different types of sources. There are two basic types of sources, print (textbooks, magazines, newspapers, etc) and non-print (websites, CD- ROMS, interviews, etc.) What do I need for print sources? Author, title, city and publisher, copyright date, edition, page, and volume numbers. What do I need for non-print sources? Author, title of item, date of posting, organization, date of access, and website address What other information do I need to include? One to two sentences summarizing the information you obtained and used from this source.

What do I do with the information? The EASIEST and QUICKEST thing to do is take your information and plug it into a cite building website, such as Then copy and paste your citations into a Word document. QUESTIONS? For homework: Build three citations and put them on page 74.
