Why volunteer? Help out your community Gain work experience Feel good Have fun! Get to know your home Make new friends Learn something new

Finding Opportunities What are your interests? What skills do you have or want to have? Find an opportunity that interests you and involves a skill you have or want to have.

How to be a Good Volunteer A good volunteer has certain characteristics: C.A.R.E. (It’s something volunteers do)

Considerate Be aware of yourself and others Follow volunteer site rules Be respectful of any clients Stay safe

Attitude Be positive Make sure you do something you enjoy

Reliable Be ready for work Show up on time and don’t get distracted (no cellphones!) Be prepared to do whatever work needs to get done
