MY WORLD CONTINENTS OF THE WORLD BY LEE BERFIELD MARCH, 2004

CONTINENTS OF THE WORLD Our world is divided into seven large land masses called continents. The seven continents are: North America South America Antarctica Australia Europe Asia Africa Most of the continents are divided into countries

NORTH AMERICA North America is divided into three countries North America is where we live North America is located in the Northern and Western Hemispheres

SOUTH AMERICA South America is located in the Southern and Western Hemispheres South America has 15 countries. The equator lies in parts of South America

ANTARCTICA Antarctica is glacial ice cover. The ice, which has accumulated over millions of years, is up to 3 miles deep and covers about 97.6 percent of the continent. Antarctica is composed of two major, distinct parts. East Antarctica, the larger of the two, is roughly the size of the United States West Antarctica, the smaller portion and forms the Antarctica peninsula. /support/physdesc.htm

Adding to this diversity is the Great Barrier Reef running north of Cape York, parallel to the coastline for 1,250 miles (2,000km).
