Centro Cultural Costarricense Norteamericano Academic Department New Policy about Absences & Tardiness

Objective To inform students of the new policies regarding absences and tardiness.

Dear Students, As of this term, there is a change on the way how teachers are going to evaluate attendance to classes, and it is very important that you know this new policy as soon as possible.

Remember that it is definitely not a good idea that you miss classes. If you really want to learn a language, you have to attend classes every single day.

Every time that you miss classes, you will waste a considerable and valuable amount of time and the opportunity to practice the language, which is very difficult to do outside the class.

From now on, any CCCN student will be allowed to miss ONLY ONE SESSION PER TERM, and no points will be deducted from this absence. After that, whenever students are late or absent, following will be the percentage they will miss:

If a course is taught ONCE a week, students will lose 2.5% for every tardiness 5% for every justified absence 5% for every unjustified absence

If a course is taught TWICE a week, students will lose 2% for every tardiness 2% for every justified absence 3.3% for every unjustified absence

If a course is taught THRICE a week, students will lose 1.5% for every tardiness 1.2% for every justified absence 2.5% for every unjustified absence

We hope that you become more aware of the importance of attending classes in order to have more chance to practice this language, which you will need for the future.
