Expectations –  S – Show Respect for property, peers and teachers  T – Turn in your tasks using your full effort  O – Open your mind to new learning experiences  P – Prepare for class by having all needed materials

Materials  Textbook-Reader’s Journey & Interactive Reader/Writer—both books are consumable  Independent reading novel at all times  Agenda  1-2 inch binder/color dividers with pockets  Paper, working pencils and pens --blue or black ink and a colored pin for marking the text  Zip Drive/Flash Drive—Must have!!!!!!  Post-it notes  Art supplies: glue sticks, scissors, colored pencils  Highlighters

Ways of Communication  Students and parents will use the blog daily to review and print important resources when necessary.  Address:  Agenda – Use daily to record assignments, plan for projects, and share communication from home.

Make-up Work  Please see me regarding make-up work if you are absent. Your first reference should be the blog and then check speak with me.  Make-up Work – It is the student’s responsibility to check the make-up crate and blackboard whenever absent. The student will have the number of days absent plus one to complete and return any work that was missed.

Tardiness & Locker Breaks  HMRM, end of 3 rd, and before connections  Anyone who enters after the bell rings is considered tardy.  Repeated tardiness can greatly affect your class performance and create unnecessary disruptions to the class.

Late Work  Late Work –All late assignments will negatively impact the student’s academic performance. I will follow and adhere to the late work policy.

Restrooms  During homeroom, lunch and fifth period as needed  Students may not leave the room the first or last 10 minutes of class.  When given permission, note RR and the time in your agenda on the appropriate day.  Bring to me for a signature.  You must take your agenda.  Please do not interrupt direct instruction to ask to go to the restroom. ****Unless it is an emergency

Odds and Ends  Please sharpen pencils before class, and never while I am giving instructions.  Hand sanitizer – the sole purpose of sanitizer is to clean your hands. If you are not responsible about using it, I will remove it from class.  Do not get up out of your seat during instruction. All trash can be thrown away as you leave.  If other students are leaving class, please be considerate as you enter.  Always respect the speaker (peers and teacher).

Group Work  Always sit in your assigned seat  Stay on task  Use appropriate cooperative behaviors – do not interrupt, be sensitive to other’s feelings, etc.  Collaborative discussions are part of the Common Core and should be taken seriously.  Grades earned in collaborative tasks will be given to each member of the group.
