 Hardware compatibility means that software will run properly on the computer in which it is installed.  When purchasing software, look for one of these phrases on the packaging:  “ Certified for Windows ______________”  “Works with Windows __________”  “Designed for Macintosh”

 Know your computer system’s specifications so you can purchase or download software.  System Specifications can be found under “System” menu of the Control Panel.

 ***Make sure you know the Minimum System Requirements before making a purchase.  Helps you to determine whether or not the software is compatible with your computer.  System Requirements will be listed somewhere on the packaging of the software product or  On the product’s web page

 The minimum requirements need to have at least that much speed, memory, space to run properly.  If the system specifications are higher than the minimum, then the software should run fine on your computer.

 Operating System  Processor speed (CPU)  RAM requirements  Available Hard Disk Space needed for installation  CD-ROM or DVD speed  Monitor Display  Video Card  Modem (for internet)
