Visiting Deguang Exchange with Deguang Catholic High School 台南市天主教德光中學 Amanda Ball 11/16/2012
Touring Campus/Day One The first day that we visited the school we received a tour of the campus. The school is very large and very different from Payton. We also saw a martial arts performance, a Chinese orchestra, and made bracelets.
Day Two On the second day of my Deguang visit, we spent time playing charades with Deguang’s international students. We also went to a cooking class with them. It was very fun and interesting to discuss differences between visiting and living in another country.
Day two continued We also had the chance to visit a university in Tainan and and saw a presentation about the culture of Taiwan. One thing I really like about Taiwan is its culture and how the people still keep traditions.
Day 3/ Touring The City
On day 3 we visited Taiwan number 1 high school and took a tour of the city’s historic cites with some of the students from both Deguang and Taiwan number 1. It was a very long tour but it was worth every minute and afterward we were able to meet the vice mayor
Day Four
On day four we were taught about many different kinds of Chinese festivals. Afterwards we were able to go and sit in classes with our study buddies. I sat in a computer class and an accounting class. After classes we did calligraphy and made fans and stamps. It was difficult but a lot of fun. Then we went into an English conversation and an exchange with the international students.
