Annalie Brining

1960 America People refused to hire black Americans Unskilled labor and service jobs Only allowed positions in their own communities Most African Americans lived below the poverty line A Raisin in the Sun Walter is a chauffeur Ruth is a housekeeper These are not very good jobs Only ones they could get Were not being paid well

1960 America Early 1900 scattered into white neighborhoods. Projects such as urban renewal policies began making them segregated Whites began to flee to the suburbs A Raisin in the Sun Their family didn’t have a very good place to live No one wanted them in the new neighborhood Everyone thinks that segregation is just how it suppose to be

Italian Irish English German My family doesn’t have any cultural traditions Doesn’t change my view on identity because its not a big deal for me I don’t define myself by my ethnic background I’m not judged by it like in the book

Going to a good college I want to learn as much as I can so I can be successful in life Getting a good job So I can provide for myself and a family later on Being happy Not having to worry about everything and being satisfied with the chooses I have made in my life. Like the novel, my dreams are going to provide me with a decent life

Shouldn’t be judged by their ethnic background Shouldn’t keep them from achieving their dreams Should be judged by who they are as a person Everyone has different dreams and goals and shouldn’t let anything stop them from achieving them
