Title: Genetic Engineering LO: Describe what GE is - Describe the CC ‘s standpoint

What is it? GE is a rapidly growing technology that involves changing the gene structure, primarily to cure genetically inherited diseases. Although used to cure disease, it could also be used to add desirable characteristics such as intelligence, physical attractiveness or gender. Could also get rid of traits such as baldness, addictions or short-sightedness. How do we feel about this? Should there be some guidelines for this process?

The Church? For Christians, GE, is against the spirit of Psalm 139:13, which maintains that God determines every feature and characteristic of an individual before contraception. “For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb…My frame was not hidden from you when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in depths of the earth. Your eyes beheld my unformed substance. In your books were written all the days that were formed for me when none of them yet existed”

The Case Against Perfection Take a look through the article. Answer the following questions: 1) What is the main theme within the article? 2)What are some of the moral issues surrounding genetic engineering? 3) What problems does it pose for the future of humanity?
